Cinderella al the ball: Shoes for the Festivities
Glitter shoes, stiletto heels or sophisticated ballet flats, embellished with stones, feathers or fur: we’re speaking about shoes for the festivities an important and sparkling detail of the image that we put on to show off mainly during the holiday season but that we may as well wear any time of the year whenever an occasion calls for a special shine.
Just as for clothing, elegant velvet is a trendy material for the Winter 2017 footwear too: Mia Moltrasio rose ballet flats with gold glitter heels seem to get out of a fairy tale as well as ankle-wrap lace up flats, high heel ankle strap shoes and braided strap sandals by Jimmy Choo.
Velvet in various colors is represented in the Gianvito Rossi collection, namely in its Mary Jane shoes with high chunky heels, as well as in the footwear collection by Etro. Alberta Ferretti offers the same fabric for embroidered high-heeled mules.
An image of a present-day Cinderella seems to have inspired Gucci for its Mary Jane shoes with such precious details as pearls, crystals, and reptile inserts, as well as Dolce & Gabbana for its sparkly shoes – a real triumph of glitter, Swarovski crystals, and floral embellishments of many colors.
Those fashionistas who are not afraid of low temperatures can wear stiletto-heeled sandals, one of the novelties of Autumn-Winter 2016/17 fashion: sensuality is assured with the Dsquared2 lace-decorated jet suede and with the Elie Saab ankle tassels.
For those who are afraid of cold weather there is a great solution: to wear sandals with socks or stockings as it is proposed by Prada, Rochas and many other footwear designers.
Philipp Plein and Michael Kors added fur details to sandals, if not in summer looks but at least in most winter ones.
