Dolce e Gabbana style fridges Sicilian aesthetics meets technology
Fashion and design are working more and more and are joing the efforts to create the coverings that can fill the furniture and can bring luxury in our houses.
And what if now the fashion could put a signature at the household appliances, too? So here there is a new collection of limited edition of fashion refrigerators, signed by Dolce e Gabbana.
The new collection, presented at the exhibition at the Furniture Salon in Milan, was born from the curious collaboration between two stylists and Italian firm of domestic appliances SMEG with the intention to create a line of hand-painted fridges.
As a result we’ve got a unique collection that includes only 100 deluxe units. “Every unit is unique,” says Domenico Dolce, “but they tell a story connected with identity of our brand.”
The two effervescent stylists found their inspiration among the folk traditions of the lovely South of Italy including Sicily, the land of origin of Domenico Dolce.
The colours are traditional, from yellow to red with brushstrokes of blue and green, all in the tone of a maison collections. The forms are quaint, theatrical masks and columns reminiscent of the temples of Magna Grecia. Everything’s strictly made in Sicilia.
This all, however, is about household appliances, such exclusive, that it has a price that matching the situation: one signed fridge can cost about EUR 30 000.
100 unique units perfectly combine SMEG quality and technology and Dolce e Gabbana creativity and craftsmanship.
But it’s not an accident that the choice has fallen on refrigerators. Both stylists are really passionate about cuisine, particularly the one related to their childhood, natural, full of rich flavors.
